Asante Gold Corp. (CVE:ASE) collected final assays from a soil auger program on its Fahiakoba mining concession in West Africa, the company said Monday.
Auger holes were drilled to depths of seven metres to test for blind gold mineralization within weathered bedrock below widespread alluvial cover.
Anomalous gold values range from 25 to 650 parts per billion (ppb), with background levels of 10 ppb gold or less. The final assays were received from a 1,200 hole program from its project in Ghana.
Meanwhile, the gold explorer said drilling has now started and is targeting six anomalous gold trends in the north eastern part of its mining concession.
According to the statement, the targets have a strike length ranging from 200 metres to about 600 metres and are co-incident with structural breaks interpreted by airborne and geophysical surveys.
The company said gold mineralization is often related to the intersection of regional northeast trending geology, with deep seated structural trends.
Asante Gold's Fahiakoba concession is found in the centre of Ghana's golden triangle between Perseus Mining's Edikan mine.
The northeast corner of the property rests just 14 kilometres from the AngloGold Obuasi mine, the longest producing, highest grade and largest gold resource in West Africa.
